Arming staff with the knowledge to keep residents safe

CHALLENGE

Our client sought to develop onboarding training related to Long-term Care Home legislation to ensure their staff understood and could comply with legislative requirements. The goal was to adapt current onboarding materials to be more flexible to be accessed by staff in geographically distributed locations, scalable to fit the needs of the growing workforce, and easily maintained in anticipation of changes to requirements and laws.

SOLUTION

LearnSwift collaborated with the client’s L&D team to review existing training materials and legislation to develop a plan for an adaptable onboarding experience. Our solution prepares newly hired long-term care home staff directly upon hire and before they are onsite and performing in their new role, through to the maintenance and updating of their knowledge as needs change and as the legislative requirements change.

This program was designed to train the new hire remotely, followed up by one-on-one support for the new hire on the job, from the learner’s manager and an assigned mentor coach.

We completed the following activities to ensure the onboarding program was flexible and adaptable:

  • Analyzed the onboarding training content
  • Collaborated with a Subject-Matter Expert to determine needs and updates
  • Created a baseline plan with the activities and resources required to update the current material and to convert the material into eLearning
  • Developed storyboards, course outlines and interactive designs for all deliverables
