Adobe eLearning Community’s leaderboard point scoring system is now revamped

The Adobe eLearning Community provides a great space for social learning, and everyone is welcome to network, share knowledge and grow as professionals. Most of the resources available here are contributed by eLearning professionals who have used the community as a platform to learn and share their learnings. We are committed to reward those who make valuable contributions to the Community. We wish to share their work across our social media channels and monthly newsletters.

What is changing?

We have now updated some gamification logic and revised the points scoring activities after considering the best interests of our 330K+ members so we can build a buzzing community together.

We have removed the points for ‘Comment on an article’ to prevent spamming. In the new scoring system, we will be rewarding helpful contributions (the ones which receive likes, get followers, etc.). Also, it will help us if OPs who start discussions kindly mark the most helpful response using the ‘Mark as answer’ button next to the comment so that the responder gets 10 points for their effort.

Projects are now worth 200 points. When you plan to contribute a project, please make sure that you follow the submission criteria mentioned on the Levels page for it to be approved for publishing. These projects will be uploaded on the Free Projects page of the Community and promoted across our social media pages and newsletters.

Earlier Current points would reset after a certain duration of time which was hard to track. Now you can track the yearly reset cycle starting from your joining date which appears on your community profile page. You get 365 days to contribute and move up the badge levels. Once you have crossed the threshold points for a level, you will NOT be demoted to a lower level (unless you’re inactive for 5 years in a row). You can redeem your Current points for incentives twice in a year (calculated from your joining date).

How to redeem points for incentives?

You can reach out to elcommunity1@adobe.com to redeem your points, clarify doubts or just say “Hi!”.

What happens to your existing ‘Current points’?

There will be no change in your existing current points. However, going forward, the new points that you score will be based on the revamped points scoring system. Please feel free to contact us if you see any unexpected change in your existing Current points. Our team will investigate and rectify it for you.

Why did we change the leaderboard points system?

We wish to reward for user-generated content that the community members find useful. Points for activities like ‘Comment on an article’ would earlier lead to a lot of spam.
We recognized that creating a project requires a lot more time and effort compared to any of the other activities. Therefore, we have proportionately increased or decreased the points associated with the different activities.
Earlier community members were unable to track their points reset dates and couldn’t plan their content calendar accordingly. Now it’ll be easier for them to track because its an annual reset as per their joining date (mentioned on their profile page).
We noticed in the past that a level demotion would demoralize a lot of valuable content contributors, therefore, going forward we wish to continue to acknowledge their contributions but keep their highest accomplished badge level intact.

Please visit the Levels page for a detailed understanding of the changes that have been made.
