timestamp variables

I must discover a way to assign the timestamp data from the system date.date and date.time variables to a new variable on a button click/tap.  I need to store a timestamp at the beginning of a lesson and, as well, at the end of a lesson so that I can determine the users running lesson duration.

If I can store a ‘start time’ and an ‘end time’  then I can take the difference.  I then need a conditional interaction on the ‘end lesson’ button that will not let the user complete the lesson until the required amount of time is taken.

I am also open to ANY method of tracking a users running lesson duration that lets me regulate the total amount of time taken before completing a lesson.

I have seen plenty of other questions out there, regarding how we are supposed to handle state mandated lesson minimums, but I have not seen any solutions from any gurus and definitely not from Adobe support.

At the VERY LEAST there has to be a way to assign a variable a local timestamp.  These are not ‘optional’ requirements’.  These minimum durations are required by law.

Can anyone help me salvage Captivate as a content creation tool??  I just need this one (extremely basic and painfully obvious omission) option.  In what universe has there ever been lessons and quizzes that dont have time limits!?!?

Please…anyone…. I have already spent an upsetting amount of time attempting every kind of workaround.  I just need any solution, I dont care how convoluted or half baked it is….
